What is Power Flushing?

Power flushing is a deep cleaning process for your central heating system. Over time, rust, sludge and scale build up inside radiators and pipework, reducing the efficiency of your heating system and putting extra strain on your boiler. A power flush uses specialist equipment to push high-velocity water through the system, dislodging and removing all this debris.

After a power flush, most customers notice their radiators heat up faster, their home reaches temperature more quickly, and their boiler runs more quietly — often with a reduction in heating bills too.

Signs You Need a Power Flush

• Radiators are cold at the bottom but warm at the top
• Some radiators are barely warm even when the heating is on full

• Flush each radiator individually to remove all debris
• Neutralise system and refill with fresh water
• Add high-quality inhibitor to protect against future corrosion
• Fit or check magnetic system filter
• Final flow rate test and system balance

How Long Does a Power Flush Take?

The time varies depending on the size of your system and the level of contamination. A typical house with 8-10 radiators takes around 6-8 hours. We'll confirm timing when we survey your system.

Power Flushing Before a New Boiler

If you're having a new boiler installed, a power flush is strongly recommended — and often required by the manufacturer to validate the warranty. Fitting a new boiler onto a dirty system can lead to premature failure and expensive repairs. We can carry out the flush at the same time as your installation for convenience.
