Common Questions

How often should a boiler be serviced? +
Boilers should be serviced every 12 months without exception. An annual service keeps your boiler running safely and efficiently, maintains your manufacturer's warranty, and helps identify small problems before they become expensive breakdowns. If you're a landlord, you're also legally required to have an annual gas safety check carried out.
Do you provide landlord gas safety certificates? +
Yes. We carry out CP12 gas safety inspections for landlords across Essex. As a landlord, you're legally required to have all gas appliances inspected annually and provide tenants with a copy of the certificate. We can combine the gas safety inspection with a boiler service in a single visit to save you time and money.
Do you cover emergency boiler repairs? +
Yes. We provide fast-response emergency boiler repairs across Essex. If your boiler has broken down, call us and we'll aim to get an engineer to you as quickly as possible — often the same day. Our vans carry a comprehensive stock of spare parts, so most repairs are completed on the first visit.
How long does a boiler installation take? +
A standard boiler replacement — fitting a new combi boiler in the same location as the old one — typically takes 4-8 hours and is completed in a single day. More complex installations involving changes to pipework, flue repositioning, or converting from a system boiler to a combi may take one to two days. We'll give you a clear timescale when we provide your quote.
Are your engineers Gas Safe registered? +
Yes, all our engineers are fully Gas Safe registered. It is illegal for anyone who is not Gas Safe registered to work on gas appliances in the UK. Our engineers carry their Gas Safe ID card on every job — always ask to see it before allowing any gas work to be carried out in your home. You can also verify our registration on the Gas Safe Register website.
What boiler brands do you install and repair? +
We work with all major boiler manufacturers including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Potterton, Glow-worm, Ariston, Ferroli, and Viessmann. For new installations, we can supply and fit any of these brands and will recommend the most suitable boiler for your home and budget.
Do I need a power flush when getting a new boiler? +
In most cases, yes. If your existing heating system is more than a few years old, a power flush before installing a new boiler is strongly recommended — and is often required by the boiler manufacturer to validate the warranty. Fitting a new boiler to a dirty, sludge-filled system can cause premature failure and void your warranty. We'll assess your system and advise accordingly.
Why are some of my radiators cold? +
Cold radiators can be caused by several things: air trapped in the system (try bleeding the radiator), sludge build-up (you may need a power flush), a failed thermostatic radiator valve (TRV), or an unbalanced heating system. If bleeding doesn't help, give us a call and we can diagnose the issue — it's usually a straightforward fix.
How much does a new boiler cost? +
The cost of a new boiler depends on the make and model, the type of boiler (combi, system, heat-only), the complexity of the installation and whether any additional work is required. We provide free, no-obligation quotes and will always give you a clear, upfront price before any work begins. Call us or use our contact form to get a quote.
Which areas do you cover? +
We're based in Hornchurch and cover the wider Essex area including Romford, Upminster, Elm Park, Emerson Park, Rainham, Dagenham, Brentwood, Billericay and Shenfield. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, just get in touch and we'll let you know.
